Our Mission

Gleneagles Family Office is on a mission to make families of great wealth stronger. For more than 25 years, our team has worked with families to safeguard and build their legacies.

As CEO of a single-family office in the 1990s, our Founder, David Plyler, realized that all families stewarding significant wealth face similar obstacles and opportunities. He intentionally designed Gleneagles as a way for families to receive hands-on, individualized service while sharing in a team of experts with specialized skills and wisdom. He curated a comprehensive team that could meet the goals of each family across all aspects of wealth management: tax and estate planning; investment oversight; real estate and alternative investments; legal counsel; family governance; and holistic financial reporting. David and the Gleneagles team also built a network across the family office industry, connecting thought leaders, families, and their advisors at special events throughout the year.

At Gleneagles, we know that all families are unique. Your Gleneagles team is unique too – designed specifically to fit the changing needs of your family.  Our family teams typically consist of five to seven team members: a Relationship Manager (your main point of contact), a Family CFO, a Family Accountant, a Tax Manager, Investment Advisor, Legal Counsel, and bookkeeping and bill pay personnel. Because our resources are shared among families, Gleneagles can provide these services exactly when and how you need them.

David Plyler

Founder and Head of Tax Consulting

As CEO of a single-family office in the 1990s, David realized that families with significant wealth face similar obstacles and opportunities as their families evolve. He founded Gleneagles to deliver the specialized skills and wisdom families need, when and how they need it. Prior to his work in the family office industry, David was a tax partner with KPMG, specializing in insurance tax accounting and private wealth management. He currently leads the tax consulting practice and co-leads investment advisory services for Gleneagles. He also co-founded The 50, a cornerstone of Gleneagles’ events business. David is a graduate of The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a Chartered Life Underwriter. David founded and runs a finance and leadership program for 8th graders at an inner-city Christian school in Atlanta, Atlanta Youth Academy, and runs Homeless at Heart, a charitable organization for the homeless that was founded by his son. He has been married to his wife, Johannah, since 2001, and they have four children and six grandchildren.

Stephen Riddell

CEO and General Counsel to Families

Steve began his career as a lawyer at Troutman Sanders LLP. He practiced law there for more than 35 years, serving a host of clients including Chick-fil-A, Southern Company, United Parcel Service and AT&T. He retired from the practice of law in early 2020 and joined Gleneagles. Steve serves as Gleneagles’ Chief Compliance Officer in addition to his work with families and as CEO. Steve is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in Journalism, with a minor in Business Administration. He received his law degree from the University of North Carolina. Steve is very active in the community and has served on the Boards of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Central Atlanta Progress, the Peach Bowl, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Carter Center, the Atlanta Football Host Committee, and the Atlanta Basketball Host Committee (amongst others). He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and Leadership Atlanta. Steve has been married to his wife, Karen, for more than 30 years, and they have three daughters.

Wendy Rogers

Chief Family Officer

As a third-generation family business owner, Wendy understands the unique situations faced by families of wealth. She is Gleneagles’ Chief Family Officer and also serves as Manager of Market and Client Advancement. Prior to Gleneagles, she was Vice President, National Relationship Management of the Signatry, a Christian foundation that has helped families, advisors and ministries send more than $2 billion to charities across the globe. She has spent much of her career in diverse roles for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, including Dow Chemical, DuPont and Chick-fil-A, Inc. Within her own family, Wendy currently serves as Director, Griffin Family Investments, LLC and Director, Griffin Family Foundation, where she works in partnership with strategic advisors and family members. Wendy received her undergraduate degree in International Business from The University of Georgia. She has also completed an executive program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a certification in Private Wealth Management at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Wendy lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and three daughters, but her family roots are in Georgia.

Rachael Durham

Chief Operating Officer

Rachael overseas the operations at Gleneagles. She leads the onboarding of new Gleneagles families and ensures a continuous match between client family needs and team staffing. Prior to Gleneagles, Rachael served as an Air Force Manpower and Personnel Officer and an Executive Officer to Commanding General Officers in the United States Air Force. After leaving the military, Rachael worked as a Department of Defense civilian for the Army as a Resource Management Analyst and Supervisor, Logistics Management Specialist. She graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2006 and resides in Texas with her husband and two sons.

Mike Hackney, CPA

Relationship Manager & Family CFO

In addition to his work as a Relationship Manager with families, Mike also serves as Family CFO. Prior to joining Gleneagles, he was a senior accountant at a large, single-family office in Atlanta, and also managed the accounting department at a technology start-up. Mike is a metro-Atlanta native and graduated from Kennesaw State University (KSU) in 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia.

Sharon Braun, CPA

Tax Manager

Sharon manages tax compliance and tax-related initiatives for Gleneagles’ families. She began her career in the tax department of Price Waterhouse, focused on tax compliance and planning for high-net-worth individuals. She later joined the tax department of a large family office where she worked with individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships, and private foundations.  Sharon also has 16 years of experience handling the accounting for a private investment partnership. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The University of Dayton and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Betty Caddell

Family CFO

Betty joined Gleneagles in 2002. Prior to Gleneagles Group, she worked in public and private accounting for 20 years, including seven and a half years as an auditor at Ernst & Young. As Family CFO, Betty co-leads our accounting team, and works with many of our client families. Betty is a graduate of Georgia State University where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, and a Master of Professional Accountancy. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia.

Jayde Christian

Family Accountant

Jayde is a family accountant for Gleneagles. Previously she worked for a private CPA firm managing over 500 clients, including s-corps and partnerships. Jayde graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 2020.

Jackie Deese, CPA

Family Controller

In addition to her work with client families, Jackie is responsible for Gleneagles corporate accounting. Prior to joining Gleneagles, Jackie served as Vice President and Controller for a large, publicly-traded transportation company. She received her bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Nick Dyer, CPA

Family Accountant

Nick is responsible for accounting and financial reporting for Gleneagles’ families. Prior to joining Gleneagles, he worked as a property accountant at a publicly-traded REIT that was acquired by Blackstone in 2022. In that capacity, he was responsible for individual, property tax, and closely-held business tax preparation. Nick earned a BBA degree in Accounting from Kennesaw State University (KSU) and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Alexa Goodman

Family Accountant

Alexa prepares the books for Gleneagles’ families and works closely with our accounting and tax teams. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. 

Chelsa Hise

Family Controller

Chelsa manages financial transactions and consolidated reporting for Gleneagles families. Prior to joining our team, she worked as an accountant at a large, single-family office and at a large commercial real estate firm. Chelsa graduated from Reinhardt University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and played collegiate soccer all four years.

Catherine Jackson

Family CFO

Catherine began her career in the accounting department of a large, single-family office in Dallas, TX. As Family CFO at Gleneagles, Catherine helps to lead our accounting team and works with many of Gleneagles’ families. Catherine is a graduate of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in French Language and Culture. She obtained her Master of Science in Accounting from SMU in 2013. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia.

Terri Kirkman

Family Accountant

Terri is responsible for accounting and bookkeeping for Gleneagles’ families. She has 20 years of bookkeeping experience, and has worked at a CPA office, an accounting firm, and a fee-only financial planner serving high net-worth individuals and families. She has extensive experience working directly with families to assist them with their bookkeeping and bill pay needs. Terri graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.

Tess Kloc, CPA

Senior Family Accountant

Tess manages financial transactions and consolidated reporting for Gleneagles families. She began her career as an audit associate focused on SEC reporting. She later went on to be a senior revenue accountant for a logistics company before joining Gleneagles. Tess graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Spencer Knap, CPA

Director of Tax Services

Spencer is responsible for tax compliance for Gleneagles’ families. He works closely with our accounting team and consults on many tax-related initiatives. Prior to joining Gleneagles, Spencer was a tax Senior Manager with Arthur Andersen where he specialized in State and Local Tax Consulting. Spencer is a graduate of Georgia State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Risk Management and Accounting.  He also earned a Master of Taxation and a Juris Doctor law degree from Georgia State and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Nicole McFarlane

Family Accountant

Nicole is responsible for bookkeeping and accounting for Gleneagles’ families. Prior to joining Gleneagles, Nicole worked in accounting and real estate asset management for over 20 years. Nicole is a graduate of Georgia State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Molly Milligan

Director of Events and Education

Molly leads the development and planning of Gleneagles’ annual conferences and events. Prior to joining Gleneagles, Molly was an Account Associate at The Blueshirt Group, a boutique investor relations firm in San Francisco, where she advised senior executives in the technology industry on communications with the global investment community. Molly is a graduate of Southern Methodist University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising with a minor in Psychology.

Khette Plyler

Office Manager

Khette is responsible for managing Gleneagles’ Atlanta office. Prior to joining Gleneagles, she worked for over 15 years in the Office of Advancement at two Atlanta area private schools, managing annual fundraising and alumni relations and events. Khette is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences. 

Sophie Way

Chief Family Investment Officer

Sophie co-leads Gleneagles’ investment advisory services. In this role, Sophie helps to create, execute, and maintain holistic strategic asset allocations for client families. Prior to Gleneagles, Sophie interned in Private Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs in Atlanta. Sophie also co-leads the 8th grade program Gleneagles runs at Atlanta Youth Academy. Sophie graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 2017. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in February 2022.
